KIKO Option. A combination of a knock-in option and a knock-out option. More specifically, a KIKO option has two barriers: a knock-in barrier and a knock-out barrier. The option's payoff gets activated once the knock-in barrier is breached. However, once the knock-out barrier is touched, the option deactivates and dies out (gets knocked out).

A KIKO is simply a double barrier option. Crossing of a barrier is an event that knocks in (activates) an inactive option, or knocks-out (de-activates) an active option. These are more common in FX. Double barrier options are usually priced using semi-analytic or pure numerical techniques. KIKO options operate on a similar principle. The trader selects either CALL or PUT, same as is the case with touch options. So we are speculating on whether the price touches a certain limit above or below the current price. But what is different is the fact that we are no longer bound by time. The kiko structure means that under certain conditions the contract would reduce the clients’ obligation to buy and sell the paired currencies to nil – it would "knock out" – whereas under other conditions it would remain at the nominal amount or indeed double in size to "knock in" an effective second contract.
